GAP TYPE THERMAL / SUPER THERMAL-RESISTANT ALUMINIUM ALLOY CONDUCTOR
STEEL REINFORCED (GTACSR / GZTACSR)
High Temperature Thermal Resistant Alloy Conductor
GTACSR/GZTACSR has a unique construction featuring a small GAP between the steel core and (super) thermalresistant aluminium alloy layer. The combination of the super) thermal resistant aluminium alloy and the “Gap construction” offers excellent sag and current-carrying characteristics. With this advantage, GTACSR/GZTACSR is useful to up-rate an existing transmission line by simply replacing the existing Conductor to GTACSR/GZTACSR.
CONSTRUCTION
Aluminium-Zirconium wires (Type-AT3 or AT-1), concentrically stranded over a steel core maintaining gap between the Steel core and first Aluminium Layer.
ADVANTAGES
These can operate up to 210°C with specified strength loss
Can carry 100 % to 150 % more current as that of ACSR of the same size.
For uprating lines, no modifications or reinforcement is required to the existing towers
Limiting the sag increase with the increase of the temperature by the thermal expansion coecient above knee-point related to the steel core
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
At a temperature of 20°C (68°F), the density of hard-drawn
aluminium has been taken as 2.703 g/cm3 (168.74 lb/cf) and for
steel wire 7.8 g/cm3 (485.69 lb/cf).
