HIGH CONDUCTIVITY ALLOY CONDUCTORS AL5, AL6, AL7, AL57, AL59, ALLOY 1120

High Conductivity Alloy Conductors : These are low resistance High Conductivity alloy conductors with excellent electrical characteristics, excellent sag tension characteristics and superior corrosion resistance to that of ACSR. As compared to ACSR they have lighter weight, comparable strength and current carrying capacity, lower electrical losses and superior corrosion resistance have given this conductor wide acceptance as a transmission conductor. It has found limited use, however, as a distribution conductor.

CONSTRUCTION

All Aluminium Alloy wires, concentrically stranded.

APPLICATION

High Conductivity Alloy Conductors (AAAC) can be used in Medium, High and Extra-High voltage transmission lines. AAAC offers better sag performance due to the high strength-to-weight ratio provided by the aluminium-alloy. In addition, AAAC provides a higher corrosion resistance than ACSR conductors.

At a temperature of 20°C (68°F), the density of hard-drawn aluminium has been taken as 2.703 g/cm (168.74 lb/cf).
